Goldwater's
Foods of Arizona, based in Scottsdale, AZ, was
founded in 1989 by Joanne Goldwater and Peggy
Goldwater-Clay, daughters of late Senator Barry
M. Goldwater, and granddaughter, Carolyn Ross.
This was the first food company to introduce a
fruit salsa. Paradise Pineapple Salsa hit
the marketplace in 1990. This award-winning
salsa has been the inspiration for the three
additional fruit salsas - Papago Peach, Ruby
Raspberry and Mohave Mango Salsas.
The
Goldwater family's recipes have also been
captured in four traditional salsas which
include; Sedona Red and Sedona Red Hot
Salsas. As well as the Rio Verde
Tomatillo and Cochise Corn and Black Bean
Salsas, which were winners of the Scovie
Award, presented by the Fiery Foods Show in
1998, 1999 and 2003.
In
addition to the variety of flavored salsas is
the chipotle based Bisbee Barbeque Sauce
and the Grand Canyon Cranberry Grill Sauce
(#1 Winner for 2005 for the Scovie Award),
The Senator's Chili Mix (Senator Goldwater's
original recipe), and Paradise Pineapple
Black Bean Dip. In 1997 and 1998, NBC's
Today Show featured the Paradise
Pineapple Black Bean Dip as one of the best
new specialty food products available.
Goldwater's Taste of the Southwest product line
